Why would you call this a probable lie in the future, when it is truth in the present, and the present is all we have?

probably because we do not know whether or not it is true in the present.
We may only know the future will reveal the truth and set the records straight.
But you are right. The present is all that we have. That’s why it’s called a present ;-)

Not sure if that makes any sense, but I certainly do understand your good point as well :)
